This curriculum is focused on preparing well-rounded children for kindergarten. Math and manipulatives, rote counting, number recognition, patterns and sequencing, science and technology, social art, music, and more are at the heart of this program.
The pre-kindergarten classroom offers an integrated approach to learning with an emphasis on phonetic instruction, and the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Seeing, hearing and reading the printed word is a constant routine, and parents are encouraged to visit the classroom as guest readers.
Mathematical and science concepts like numbers and numeral relationships, simple measurements, and simple geometry are introduced in the classroom. And computers and technology are integrated across the curriculum, with the use of our dedicated computer media and technology lab.
Parent-teacher conferences are held regularly to ensure that parents know about their child’s challenges, progress and successes. Our teachers are encouraging and supportive of both the students and parents, paving the way for a smooth, healthy transition from pre-K to elementary school.
Your child’s schedule begins to incorporate more complex learning approaches like breaking up into language & literacy groups, and using worksheets. They’ll spend more time on table manipulatives and learning new concepts.
